The most important football event on the planet will not just be a spectacle; it will be a laboratory. More than 100 students from the Sports Data Campus Master's programs will analyze every match of the 2026 World Cup using real data and professional standards, and publish it on a platform open to everyone.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off in a few weeks. While the world talks about goals, teams, and favorites, Sports Data Campus has been preparing something different for some time: to turn the most-watched tournament on the planet into an applied academic experience, with real data, multidisciplinary teams, and real-time analytical production. Thus, the “Data World Cup” is born.

The Data World Cup: an international, analytical, and multilingual deployment of applied analysis

The concept is as ambitious as it is concrete: the teams will be made up of students with complementary profiles —such as Data Engineering, Data Scientist, Data Visualization and technical-tactical analysis, Artificial Intelligence, Physical Preparation, and more— organized into working groups in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. Together they will analyze, match by match, the FIFA World Cup 2026, from the group stage to the final.

They will do this using a massive volume of real data from an authorized professional provider, applying methodologies and standards typical of analysis departments in elite clubs and federations.

The work will be developed directly and practically, structuring all operations around three key pillars:

  • Global Multilingual Structure: In complete harmony with the tournament's multicultural nature, the analysis teams will work in a coordinated way in three official languages: Spanish, English, and Portuguese (Portugal variant).
  • Comprehensive End-to-End Coverage: Each assigned match will generate a rigorous operational cycle. The teams will develop post-match analysis (advanced metrics such as xG, pressure, passing networks, and spatial efficiency) along with tactical scenarios.
  • The World Cup Digital Magazine: All accumulated knowledge, identified tactical trends, and the most powerful visualizations will be consolidated at the end of the tournament into a major multilingual editorial publication. A document that will serve as a collective portfolio, methodological manual, and international showcase of talent for the industry.

“It’s not just about training analysts. It’s about proving that we are building a new generation of professionals capable of integrating data, artificial intelligence, and strategic communication in high-level football.”

A project built from experience

The Data World Cup does not emerge from nowhere. It is the third phase of a consolidated strategy. In Qatar 2022, Sports Data Campus tested for the first time the real-time applied analysis model during a major tournament. In 2024, with the overlap of the Euro Cup and the Copa América, the project expanded with the Data Cup: more structured teams, more sophisticated analysis, greater international dimension, and 2026 is the definitive leap.

Why this matters

At a time when data analysis and artificial intelligence are redefining professional football, Sports Data Campus wants to position itself where it belongs: at the center of that transformation. The Data World Cup is not a one-off activity. It is an institutional statement about how education in technology applied to sport is understood.

For the sports ecosystem, the project represents a unique showcase of talent, methodology, and technical capacity. For students, a real opportunity to build applied experience, professional visibility, and direct connection with the dynamics that are transforming modern football.
